Hydrogen (H2)

What is hydrogen?

Hydrogen is the lightest and most abundant element in the universe. Colorless, odorless, non-toxic, and non-polluting, it stands out as a viable alternative to fossil fuels and for its versatile use in various productive sectors.

At an industrial level, it is used in a compressed gaseous state and must be handled with caution due to its high flammability.

Although not a new gas, in recent years it has gained prominence as a clean energy source, especially in its green form, obtained from renewable electricity.

H2 applications

1. Chemical and technical industry

  • Chemical reactions: it is used as an initiator and reagent in complex industrial processes.
  • Shielding gas in welding: especially useful in welding sensitive materials, creating a contaminant-free atmosphere.
  • Analytical laboratories: it is used as a carrier gas in chromatography and analytical detection systems.

2. Food Industry

  • Hydrogenation of fats: used to convert liquid vegetable oils into solid or semi-solid fats, resulting in the well-known hydrogenated fats present in many processed products.

3. Transportation and Logistics

  • Fuel cells: hydrogen is a viable alternative to diesel and gasoline, used in fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) that emit only water vapor.
  • Logistics applications: forklifts, trains, and buses with hydrogen systems are already in operation in several European countries.

4. Energy and Sustainability

  • Green hydrogen: produced through water electrolysis using renewable energy. Its use is expected to decarbonize key sectors such as heavy industry and long-distance transport.
  • Energy storage: acts as a means of storing surplus renewable energy and releasing it when needed.

Supply formats

We offer formats adapted to different industrial and technological needs:

  • Compressed gas cylinders: available in various capacities and pressures, for technical or analytical applications.
  • Continuous supply systems: for high-consumption industrial processes.
  • Safe and certified supply: compliant with all quality and safety controls required by European regulations.
