FAQs: Home respiratory therapies

Patient manuals

OXIGEN salud has a specific patient manual for each treatment it offers. These documents are written and designed by a specialist medical team so that patients can understand their treatment and how their equipment works, as well as familiarising themselves with the cleaning, maintenance and safety recommendations for their prescribed device.

Every time equipment is installed in a home, the care team will provide the patient with the therapy manual and other relevant documents.

General questions

The face mask is very uncomfortable and is hurting me. What can I do?

The mask should fit properly without being too tight or too loose. No air should escape around your chin or eyes. Should you wake up with marks or skin irritation, try applying a moisturiser each night on the area in contact with the mask, so as to hydrate the skin. If the problem persists, call the OXIGEN salud helpline (900 80 80 89) to make an appointment with our care team.

I would like to travel with oxygen. What should I take into account?

Travelling with oxygen is possible, with some planning. First, consult your doctor to check you are fit for the trip you are planning. If you are fit to travel, your doctor will need to provide you with copies of your prescription and any additional documentation you might need. You must also check the travel requirements set out by the transport company or airline. If you are travelling by aeroplane, remember that your breathing capacity might vary, as the air pressure is lower than normal on board. If you need oxygen at your destination, call the OXIGEN salud helpline (900 80 80 89) and we will provide information on all the available supply options.
