Airway clearance
through the high-frequency chest wall oscillation system

This system consists of an inflatable vest connected via hoses to an air pulse generator. The mechanical pump generates an oscillatory air flow, which carries out intermittent pneumatic chest compressions.

The rapid chest movement imitates a cough, so that mucus can be expelled and cleared. It acts simultaneously on both lungs and moves the mucus into the central airway.

It is an effective, safe, consistent treatment. In addition, it is easy to administer and comfortable for the patient.

How to use the vest system

Connect the power cable to the back of the device and plug it into the mains.

Connect the hoses to each of the air outlets at the front of the device.

Put on the vest:

  1. Open the velcro straps to separate the front and back parts of the vest.
  2. Put the vest over your head, with the hose inlets at the front.
  3. While the vest is still deflated, fasten the velcro on the sides. Adjust the velcro straps on your shoulders so that the part under the arms fits comfortably against the armpits.
  4. Adjust the velcro on the sides again. Breathe in deeply while you fasten the velcro parts. The vest should fit tight against the body, but not too tight.

Connect the hose system to the vest, with a gentle twisting movement.

Press the ON button. The screen will light up and the vest will inflate. The screen will display the pre-programmed frequency, pressure, and remaining treatment time parameters prescribed by your doctor. Start the therapy by pressing the ON button again. These parameters can be adjusted at any time during the treatment session with the up and down arrows.

Press the OFF button at any time to end the treatment session. The screen will stay on briefly and display the remaining minutes of treatment.

Once the treatment is finished, the screen will display the message ‘session complete’. The compressions will stop, the vest will deflate, and the screen light will turn off. The screen will display the usage time.

Unplug the system from the mains.

Disconnect the hose system and remove the vest by unfastening the velcro on the sides and pulling the vest over your head. You can also unfasten the velcro shoulder straps, but in this case, you will need to adjust the vest every time you use it.

There is a remote-control function, which is equivalent to the ON button. This way, you can begin the treatment and pause it using the remote control. To do so, connect the remote control to the port at the front of the system.

Maintenance and cleaning

All of the components can be cleaned with a damp cloth and a non-abrasive soap. Never submerge them in water. Let them dry before using the system again.

  • If the device is wet, do not use it and wait for it to dry.
  • Do not use extension cables or multi-socket adapters.
  • Make sure the device is placed on a stable, clean, dry, flat surface.

Should you have any problems with the system, contact OXIGEN salud. Do not try to repair the system yourself.

System troubleshooting

Problem Cause Solution
The air pulse generator will not turn on. The power cable is not connected to the unit’s power socket. Disconnect the power cable from the unit and connect it again.
The power cable is not plugged into the mains properly. Make sure the power cable is plugged into the mains properly.
Other causes. Contact OXIGEN salud.
The vest is too small now. Normal growth. Readjust the straps so that the vest fits properly. If the vest is still too small, contact OXIGEN salud to request another one.
The screen is displaying an error message. Unexpected information input or fault in the fan motor or diaphragm motor. Disconnect the power cable from the unit and connect it again. If the message remains on the screen, contact OXIGEN salud.
The hose comes loose from the device or the vest during use. The hose inlets on the vest or the air pulse generator may be dirty. Clean the inside and outside of the ends of the hoses, as well as the inlets on the vest and the generator with a damp cloth and non-abrasive soap.
Other causes. Contact OXIGEN salud.
No air pulses are coming into the vest. The remote control is not connected to the unit properly. Firmly insert the remote-control connector into the port.
The hose system is not connected to the vest. Connect the hose system to the vest and the air pulse generator.
